Microcement

Seamless surfaces for bathrooms, wet areas, floors and kitchens - durable, calm, and low maintenance.

Seamless, continuous surfaces

Microcement is a thin, cement-based coating that creates a refined, joint-free finish over walls, floors or cabinetry. It delivers a modern, cohesive look that flows through your space. Ideal for achieving a calm, contemporary aesthetic in any room.

Where Microcement Works Best

  • Bathrooms & Showers: Grout-free, waterproof wet areas for a clean modern feel.
  • Kitchens & Benchtops: Durable, easy-clean surfaces (with the right sealing for food prep zones).
  • Floors & Stairs: A continuous concrete look underfoot - even applied over stable existing tiles for a seamless result.
  • Feature Walls & Fireplaces: Lightweight plaster artistry that adds texture without the weight of solid concrete.
  • Commercial Spaces: Perfect for retail and office interiors needing a hard-wearing, minimalist finish that stands out.

Our Microcement process

  1. Site visit & Scope: We assess your surfaces (checking substrate stability, moisture levels, and movement joints) and discuss your vision.
  2. Preparation & Priming: Surfaces are prepped and a system-specific primer is applied to ensure a proper bond.
  3. Hand Application: Multiple coats of microcement are troweled on by hand, then refined to the desired texture and smoothness.
  4. Sealing: We finish with high-performance sealers, making the surface fully waterproof and stain-resistant in wet or high-traffic areas.

Care & maintenance

Keep your microcement surfaces looking their best with simple care. Clean them using pH-neutral, non-abrasive cleaners (mild soaps or specialised products) and a soft mop or cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or scrubbing pads that could dull the sealed finish. With the right sealer applied, your microcement will age gracefully, and we'll make sure you know exactly what to expect as it ages naturally over time.

Microcement FAQs

Is microcement waterproof?

Microcement is 100% waterproof on every layer, suitable for showers, bathrooms, and other wet areas.

Can you apply microcement over tiles?

In many cases, yes. If the existing tiles are stable and level, we can overlay them with a microcement system. We always check the substrate first to ensure long-term adhesion and performance.

Will it crack?

Microcement is formulated to be strong yet thin, but movement in the underlying structure is the biggest risk. We mitigate this by thoroughly assessing and preparing the substrate and using proper techniques (like applying fiber mesh or honoring movement joints) to prevent cracking.

How long does installation take?

It varies by project, but a typical microcement installation (for example, a medium-sized bathroom) takes about 5-7 days from start to finish. This allows for surface prep, multiple coats with drying time, and final sealing. We'll provide a clear timeline after we scope your specific project.
